SNA & Police Commanders Inspect TURKSOM

The military commanders inspected the TURKSOM Academy

Mogadishu, June 11, 2026 – The Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, accompanied by the Commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, and other officials, today conducted a work inspection at the TURKSOM Military Training Academy to accelerate training and strengthen the capacity of the armed forces.

This inspection is of great importance to ensure that the Somali forces receive international standard training provided by Turkish experts. The TURKSOM Academy was established through a strategic partnership between Somalia and Turkey, and it is part of efforts to build a national army capable of defending the country and ensuring the security of the citizens.

“We inspected various sections of the academy, and we evaluated the smooth running of the training and the preparedness quality of the Somali forces being trained there,” said the Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud. “Our goal is to accelerate training and improve the quality of the forces.”

The Police Commander, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, added that strengthening training is related to ensuring that the forces are prepared for the security challenges facing Somalia. The officials of the TURKSOM academy provided the commanders with reports on training activities and the development of the forces' knowledge, stating that the academy has reached a high level in terms of equipment and teaching methods.

The commanders encouraged the trainee forces to participate sincerely and serve their community honorably. The inspection concluded with the commanders pledging to continue supporting the academy to ensure it maintains its international standards.
