Türkiye Denies New Visa Restrictions on Somali Travel

ANKARA (Raxanreeb Online) — Türkiye has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that Somalia has introduced new visa and travel restrictions targeting Turkish citizens.

Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications’ Center for Combating Disinformation said the reports were baseless and stressed that no new decision had been taken by the Somali government to impose restrictions on the travel of Turkish nationals.

The agency said the existing visa and travel procedures governing citizens of Türkiye and Somalia remain unchanged. It also urged the public to exercise caution and rely on official sources when seeking information about travel and immigration regulations.

The clarification followed the circulation of social media posts alleging that Somalia had changed its entry procedures for Turkish citizens. The reports generated widespread discussion and speculation online.

Türkiye and Somalia maintain close and longstanding bilateral relations, with the two countries cooperating in a range of areas, including security, defense, trade, infrastructure development and humanitarian affairs.

The Turkish authorities’ clarification comes amid continued efforts to counter misleading information circulating online and to encourage the public to verify claims through official sources.
