Heavy shelling can be heard in the neighborhoods of Howlwadaag district and Mirinaayo neighborhood in Cabdicasiis district, where since yesterday evening clashes have been occurring between the opposition and the federal government of Somalia.

In the two areas where the fighting is taking place, former president Sheikh Sharif and former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire are present, and most of the residents living in those neighborhoods have been displaced.

The fighting parties in Mogadishu have used mortars, some of which have fallen in neighborhoods inhabited by civilians, causing injuries and property damage, as shown by videos and images shared on social media.

So far, the extent of the official casualties sustained by the fighting parties is unknown, as most of the fighting occurred during nighttime.

The city of Mogadishu appears to have entered a very dangerous phase of conflict, with no predictions on how the situation will continue.
