The Ministry of Defense issues a statement on airstrikes carried out in Middle Shabelle

The Somali National Army, in collaboration with international partners, has recently conducted consecutive airstrikes targeting Al-Shabaab militants hiding in areas of the Middle Shabelle region.

These aerial operations took place in the areas of Gayfo, Ruun Idiris, and Cali Gaduud, where the militants had established bases, training sites, and storage for weapons, ammunition, and military supplies.

The first airstrike, which occurred on the 24th of this month, targeted a base that the militants had in the Gayfo area, where the militants present at the site and the weapons stored there were hit.

On the 25th of this month, three consecutive airstrikes were also carried out, which destroyed a training center that the militants had in the Ruun Idiris area. On the same day, another airstrike targeted the Cali Gaduud area, where armed militants were preparing to carry out terrorist acts.

These airstrikes resulted in the deaths of nearly 30 militants belonging to Al-Shabaab. Additionally, two vehicles, three motorcycles, weapons, ammunition, and other supplies used by the group for organizing and executing terrorist acts were destroyed.
