The Minister of Internal Security and the Chinese Ambassador Discuss Strengthening Security Cooperation

Mogadishu – The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), held a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Wang Yu, where they discussed strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

The meeting focused on security issues, enhancing the capacity of security agencies and technical support to strengthen the efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia in ensuring the security and stability of the country.

Both sides agreed on the importance of close cooperation based on mutual interests, while also highlighting the role of international partners in supporting Somalia in the areas of security and the development of government institutions.

The discussions also analyzed support for training and skill development of staff in the Ministry of Internal Security, strengthening the capacity of security agencies and enhancing cooperation related to preventing security threats, combating explosives and mines that pose a danger to the safety of the Somali people.

The Minister of Internal Security thanked the Government of China for its support to Somalia, especially in the areas of security and building the capacities of government institutions.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to further strengthen cooperation between Somalia and China, with both sides expressing their commitment to enhancing cooperation in security, improving government institutions, and supporting efforts to ensure sustainable security and stability in the country.
