Xasan Sheekh sends congratulations to the new leadership of the Hirshabelle Regional Assembly

MUQDISHO — The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, on Thursday congratulated the new leadership of the Hirshabelle State Assembly, calling on them to strengthen democracy, enhance governance, and carry out parliamentary duties.

Abdikhakiin Luqmaan Mohamed was elected as the Chairman of the Hirshabelle Assembly, while Abdirahman Abdi Iidow was elected as the First Deputy Chairman, and Jamaal Ali Mohamud was elected as the Second Deputy Chairman, as stated in a statement from the Presidency of Somalia. The three officials were elected to the new leadership of the assembly on Thursday evening.

President Hassan Sheikh congratulated them on the confidence they received from the assembly members, wishing them to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities efficiently and responsibly. The President urged the new leadership to work on enhancing governance, strengthening democracy, and accelerating the activities of the Assembly.

He also emphasized the importance of cooperation among government institutions, maintaining social unity, and strengthening peace and development in Hirshabelle. Hassan Sheikh stated that these efforts are crucial for bringing government services closer to the people and ensuring they can freely choose their leaders.

Hirshabelle is one of the federal member states of the Federal Government of Somalia.
