Hassan Sheikh returns from Ethiopia, traveling to another country

Muqdisho (Caasimada Online) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who today made a one-day visit to the city of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, returned to the country later in the afternoon.

The President, accompanied by officials from the National Palace, was taken to his office after landing at Aden Adde International Airport, where he continued his work and constitutional duties.

During his stay in Addis Ababa, Hassan Sheikh held an important meeting with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, where they discussed sensitive issues including strengthening the longstanding relationship between Somalia and Ethiopia and how to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of developing cooperation among the countries in the region, exchanging views on issues affecting peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

On the other hand, reliable sources have confirmed to us that the President is set to embark on another trip expected to take him to Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on Friday, where he will participate in a quadrilateral meeting with the leaders of Egypt, Sudan, and Eritrea.

The agenda of that meeting is not known, but it comes at a critical time as the region faces changing political and security situations, with ongoing diplomatic efforts addressing the circumstances in the region.

President Hassan Sheikh will also visit the country of Djibouti, where he is expected to meet with his counterpart, President Ismail Omar Guelleh, discussing his plans ahead of the quadrilateral meeting taking place in the city of Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

This trip by the President of Somalia to neighboring countries and those in the region comes at a time when there are political disputes and internal tensions in the country, with complex situations currently prevailing in the cities of Baidoa and Beledweyne, the capitals of South West and HirShabelle.
