Hassan Sheikh holds a fruitful meeting with his Djiboutian counterpart + Photos

Djibouti (Caasimada Online) - The President of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and a delegation he is leading have today made a working visit to the Republic of Djibouti, where he held a fruitful meeting with his counterpart in that country, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh.

The meeting between the two Presidents focused on strengthening the fraternal relations and the longstanding cooperation between Somalia and Djibouti, particularly emphasizing cooperation in the areas of security, economy, politics, and issues related to peace, stability, and security in the Horn of Africa.

Additionally, this visit is part of the trips of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, aimed at strengthening the relations and cooperation Somalia has with neighboring countries, with particular priority given to the interests of our country and the stability of the region.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud visited the city of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, yesterday, where he held discussions with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on sensitive issues including strengthening the longstanding relations between Somalia and Ethiopia and how to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of developing cooperation among the countries of the region, exchanging views on issues affecting peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

On the other hand, the President of Somalia will, after Djibouti, head to the city of Cairo, the capital of Egypt, where he will hold various meetings with the leaders of that country, as reported by Caasimada Online.

President Hassan Sheikh is also expected to participate in high-level African meetings taking place in the city of New Alamein in that country during his stay in Egypt.

The relationship between Mogadishu and Cairo has significantly strengthened in recent years, particularly in the areas of defense and security, with both countries also enhancing military cooperation, and senior Egyptian officials recently met with Somali leaders in Mogadishu to discuss training, capacity building of the forces, and support for the National Army.

Hassan Sheikh's trips to Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Egypt come at a time when the region is facing complex security and political challenges, including renewed fighting in northern Ethiopia, the conflict in Sudan, and tensions in the Red Sea.
