Hassan Sheikh describes a historic day following the recent elections

Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has spoken about the elections for the House of Representatives and the Local Councils in Galmudug and HirShabelle, describing it as an important step towards democracy and the development of the electoral system in the country.

Hassan Sheikh stated that the citizens living in the regions of Mudug, Galgaduud, Hiiraan, and Middle Shabelle participated peacefully in the voting, calling the election day a significant moment in the history of democracy in Somalia.

“Today is another day that marks a positive chapter in the history of democracy and the progress of our country,” he said, praising the thousands of citizens who took part in the electoral process.

The President noted that the participation of the public demonstrates the exercise of their constitutional right to vote and their role in strengthening governance, democracy, and representation of the people.

Regarding security, Hassan Sheikh praised the Somali security forces who secured the polling places and the citizens participating in the elections, ensuring that the process took place in a peaceful and stable environment.

According to the President, no problems were reported at the polling stations, noting that the security forces effectively ensured safety during the elections.

Hassan Sheikh added that these elections demonstrate, as he stated, the commitment of the Somali people to building an inclusive governance, strengthening peace, and implementing a political process based on the will of the people.

Finally, the President described the elections in Galmudug and Hirshabeelle as a step to further strengthen the democratic system based on direct elections.
