Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The new leadership of the Galmudug Regional Assembly officially took office today, following a ceremony held at the Assembly's headquarters located in the city of Dhuusamareeb, the capital of the Galgaduud region.

‎The handover ceremony was attended by members of the Federal Parliament, Ministers, new members of the Galmudug Assembly, parliamentary staff, and other distinguished guests.

Xuseen Dhagaweyne, who was elected as the chairman of the Assembly yesterday, took office today and first expressed his gratitude to the former leadership of the Assembly, praising their work and efforts during their tenure.

He also thanked all the guests and officials who attended the handover ceremony, which was held peacefully in Dhuusamareeb.

‎‎He highlighted the importance of continuing the work of the Assembly, strengthening cooperation, and fulfilling the constitutional responsibilities of the Galmudug Assembly.

On his part, the former chairman of the Galmudug Assembly, Dr. Maxamed Nuur Gacal, who spoke at the ceremony, prayed to God to support the newly elected officials in the heavy responsibilities assigned to them, promising to cooperate with them.

The three members elected to the leadership of the new Galmudug Parliament are all members of the JSP party led by President Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud, which means that Villa Somalia has taken control of the top leadership of the Galmudug Parliament.

After the election of the speaker, the election of the President of Galmudug will follow in the coming days, and candidate Liibaan Axmed Xasan, who is supported by Villa Soomaaliya, is expected to run, having previously received the JSP party card.
