Deadly Clan Violence in Sool as Civilians Buried in Mass Funeral

Laascaanood/Adhicadeeye, (WDN) – A devastating outbreak of clan violence in the Adhicadeeye area of Somalia’s Northeast- Sool region has left more than 20 people dead and dozens wounded, according to local sources, in one of the deadliest inter-clan confrontations witnessed in the region this year.

The fighting, which erupted between two clans (Dhulbahante/Jaamac Siyaad and Fiqishini), involved the extensive use of heavy and light weapons and reportedly drew in armed vehicles dispatched from positions near the Sarinta front line in Guumeys.

What began as a localized dispute quickly escalated into a large-scale armed confrontation, transforming rural communities into battlefields and leaving a trail of death and destruction in its wake. Local residents described scenes of chaos as gunfire echoed across the area for hours, forcing families to flee their homes while others found themselves trapped between the opposing forces.

According to local reports from the ground, the latest bloodshed was triggered by the killing of a khat trader from the Jaamac Siyaad clan in Adhicadeeye on the previous day. What might otherwise have remained an isolated criminal incident rapidly evolved into a retaliatory cycle of violence that engulfed entire communities.
