Curfew Imposed in Baydhabo as Elections for South West Leadership Approach

BAYDHABA – The Somali Police Force has announced a curfew to be implemented in the city of Baydhabo, the capital of the Bay region, as the elections for the leadership of the South West State are set to take place.

A press release from the Police Force stated that this measure aims to ensure the security and overall safety of the city, particularly during the election activities.

According to the police report, movement of vehicles and public gatherings in Baydhabo is prohibited during the curfew, except for security forces, officials, emergency response vehicles, and individuals with urgent medical conditions.

The police also stated that arrangements have been made for citizens in need of medical assistance or facing emergencies to access emergency response vehicles, which can be found at locations where security forces and local administration are present.

On the other hand, security forces have been instructed not to fire any shots before and after the elections for the leadership of the South West administration. The Police Force issued a stern warning to anyone who violates this order, stating that legal action will be taken and they will be brought before the competent court.

The Somali Police have called on the citizens of Baydhabo to cooperate with the security agencies and report any security information or suspicious activities to ensure the safety and stability of the city.
