The Banaadir Regional Police stated that a woman facing a health crisis was forcibly taken from a hospital

Mogadishu (Raxanreeb Online) The Banadir Regional Police Command has stated that an investigation is underway regarding an incident that occurred at one of the hospitals in the city of Mogadishu, after videos were circulated on social media showing armed police officers entering the hospital.

The police, providing details about the reason for the refusal, stated that a mother who had undergone surgery for her child was unable to pay the surgical fees, as she came from a poor family.

“Zamzam went to the hospital on 19/09/2026, where she underwent surgery, and on 20/09/2026 she gave birth to a boy. Her poor family was unable to cover the medical and accommodation expenses, which led the hospital administration to file a complaint against the child's father, and he was arrested,” the police command said in a statement.

Additionally, the police command stated that the prosecutor ordered the hospital administration to release the mother and child. However, the hospital administration refused and insisted that they would not be released until the owed amount was paid, as their accommodation costs were still ongoing.

The police noted that the mother was facing a health condition related to neglect, and the prosecutor had ordered the police to urgently rescue the mother, while the father remained detained by the hospital administration.

The police defending the action taken by the forces who entered said, “When the forces went to execute the order, there was a confrontation and violence between the troops and the hospital administration, with resistance and the use of weapons, which led to the troops bringing their weapons inside the hospital to save the mother who was in a state of neglect, while also being isolated inside the hospital without having eaten any food for several days.”

Finally, the police command stated that it emphasizes that it is not allowed to enter a public place with weapons, and that this incident is currently under investigation, and they indicated that the law will be enforced, and the hospital administration will be brought to court for committing a very heinous act, and anyone found guilty of illegal acts or mistakes related to this incident.
