The Federal Government of Somalia has launched planned operations targeting weapons, military vehicles and supplies owned by politicians and businessmen from Mogadishu, which have been taken to areas in the Middle Shabelle to the Banadir region.

In Cadale, Warsheekh, and Gubadley, clashes occurred last night between forces sent from Mogadishu and forces reported to be organized along clan lines.

The heaviest fighting targeted 5 military vehicles owned by a former minister and businessman, which were attacked at his hotel in Mogadishu yesterday, as part of their movement towards the Cadale district from where he hails.

Villa Somalia aims to forcibly consolidate the weapons in the hands of all opposing sides to implement its plan for the realization of elections and the one-year term allowed by the amendments made to the constitution.

Some opposition members claim that the actions of the interim president signify a plan to create a security threat and that the current arms acquisition is not for ensuring security.
