Troops Gather in Neighborhoods of Mogadishu Amidst Tense Situation

The city of Mogadishu has entered a highly charged political atmosphere, with significant military movements and political organization being carried out by the government and the opposition, who are planning to hold protests in the capital in the coming days.

Members of the opposition Rescue Council, particularly Sheikh Sharif and Hassan Ali Khaire, have moved to the districts of Abdicasis and Hantiwanaag, where they have established bases with accompanying troops.

On the other hand, the Federal Government of Somalia has also deployed many troops to the neighborhoods where the opposition is based, with opposing forces seen gathering in various areas today.

Some residents of Mogadishu have begun to flee certain neighborhoods after military movements were observed from both the opposition and the government, who are at odds over the electoral period and the country's elections.

The international community, led by the United States, called on the government and the opposition a day ago to urgently resolve the electoral dispute, so that the country does not descend into insecurity and political instability.
