Somalia's Ambassador to Kenya Bids Farewell to Somali Student Awarded Scholarship from Japan

Nairobi, Kenya – The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Kenya has recently focused on supporting and assisting Somali students and professionals, encouraging them to take advantage of educational opportunities, training, and knowledge enhancement available from countries around the world.

Somalia's Ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Jabriil Ibrahim Abdulle, today bid farewell to a Somali student who received a scholarship from Japan. The farewell meeting was also attended by Ms. Tsukishima Ayane, a representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Kenya.

Ambassador Jabriil, during a farewell and encouragement meeting with the students, stated that such opportunities are crucial for enhancing the knowledge and skills of Somali citizens, especially those working in government agencies and local administration.

He urged the students to utilize the knowledge and experience they gain from studying abroad for the benefit of their country and community. The two students, part of the latest cohort heading to Japan this year, expressed their gratitude to the Somali Embassy in Kenya for facilitating their journey and the support shown, especially by Ambassador Jabriil and all the diplomats at the Embassy.

Ambassador Jabriil Ibrahim Abdulle also praised the efforts and educational opportunities available to Somali students from countries around the world. He mentioned that confidence in Somali students going abroad for education is increasing, and their return to their country has encouraged many countries to provide scholarships to Somali students.

“We thank Japan for the educational support they provide to Somali students. It is also worth commending the efforts shown by Somali students, who secured the scholarship through competition and examinations they undertook,” said Ambassador Jabriil. The Ambassador also noted that this is the second time within two months that the Somali Embassy in Kenya has bid farewell to Somali students heading to Japan.

He mentioned that some of the previous students who benefited from such opportunities have completed their education and are now working in various government agencies in Somalia, while others are still continuing their studies in Japan.

Ambassador Jabriil stated that such opportunities demonstrate the talent, effort, and capability of Somali students, especially those gaining opportunities to study at universities and educational institutions in various countries.
