The Federal Government presents weapons allegedly sourced from Hotel Elite in Mogadishu

The security forces in Mogadishu presented various types of weapons this afternoon, which are said to have been sourced from Hotel Elite located in the Abdiaziz district, owned by former Minister of Security Abdullahi Mohamed Nur.

The Commander of the Banadir Regional Police, Mahdi Omar Muumin, speaking to the media at Hotel Elite, stated that a large amount of weapons had been seized, including heavy weapons and long-range firearms, which were stored in the hotel.

“This operation is part of ongoing operations by the security forces to pursue illegal weapons, some of which were carried by militias causing insecurity in this district, while others are new weapons prepared to disrupt the security of the city. These weapons were stored in various locations including Hotel Elite,” said the Banadir Police Commander.

Mahdi Omar Muumin stated that they will continue operations to pursue illegal weapons, emphasizing that no one will be allowed to store illegal weapons in their homes or business premises.

On the other hand, Commander Mahdi mentioned that no harm occurred at the hotel, and there was no harm done to the security personnel and staff of the hotel, noting that the security forces only carried out their duties.

The Federal Government had previously presented weapons it claimed to have seized from houses in the Abdiaziz and Howlwadaag districts, which were inhabited by opposition politicians Sheikh Sharif and Hassan Ali Khaire.
