Lafta-gareen Rejects Ceasefire in Baydhaba

Baydhaba (Caasimada Online) – A brief statement issued by the team of former South West President, Abdicasiis Hassan Mohamed (Lafta-gareen) addressed the ongoing situation in the administration, particularly outside the city of Baydhaba, the capital of the Bay region.

The spokesperson for the group, Ugaas Xasan Cabdi Maxamed, who posted a statement on his Facebook page, denied reports that Lafta-gareen had accepted a ceasefire in South West, and he dismissed claims that an agreement had been reached with individuals involved in resolving the ongoing crisis.

“There are no negotiations aimed at reaching a ceasefire between individuals and the President of the South West State, Mr. Abdicasiis Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen,” the spokesperson said.

Ugaas Xasan also revealed that they would continue their operations, stating that their goal is to liberate South West and restore it to their control, as he put it.

“The struggle and liberation of the regions of South West will continue until they are freed and their independence and dignity are restored to their hands, insha Allah,” Ugaas Xasan added.

This statement comes as the situation in South West remains tense, although the forces of both sides are still positioned on the outskirts of Baydhaba, where various battles have previously occurred.

The Somali government and South West are currently coordinating in Baydhaba, where many troops have been deployed, while the forces loyal to Lafta-gareen remain in their camps, where they are conducting heavy movements.
