The Administration of Aadan Madoobe Claims Its Forces Dealt a Heavy Blow to the Groups They Fought in Baydhaba

Baydhabo – The administration of South West Somalia, led by the Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Aadan Mohamed Nur (Aadan Madoobe), has claimed victory in the battle that took place in the city of Baydhabo, with a press release from the administration stating that the South West forces inflicted heavy losses on the Al-Shabaab group.

The administration stated that the government forces and the South West forces present in Baydhabo bravely repelled an attack launched by Al-Shabaab on the city, which, according to the statement, began with vehicles filled with explosives and suicide militants.

The statement also mentioned that during the battle, Al-Shabaab used unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) equipped with explosives, which the administration claimed were guided by foreign individuals.

The South West administration added that vehicles filled with explosives were used to attack hotels, business premises, educational and health centers, homes belonging to civilians, and mosques, while it was also reported that some businesses were looted.

According to the press release, government forces quickly responded to the attack, thwarting Al-Shabaab's attempt and defending the key facilities and areas of the city of Baydhabo.

The Aadan Madoobe administration stated that more than 70 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the battle, which it claimed included foreign fighters, while a number of others were injured. The statement also mentioned that the forces seized military vehicles and various types of weapons, while other vehicles belonging to the group were burned.

The South West Administration has sent condolences to the citizens and the forces reported to have died in the attack, while also wishing health to those injured in the conflict. The government has called on the people of Baydhabo to show calmness, vigilance, and full cooperation with the security agencies, in order to prevent further security incidents.

The South West Administration has also stated its commitment to removing Al-Shabaab from the areas and districts under its administration, focusing on ensuring security, stability, and the safety of the citizens.
