The Somali Rescue Forum Warns of a Plan to Search Gen. Odawaa Yuusuf Raage's House

Mogadishu – The Somali Rescue Forum has warned of what it describes as a plan to search the house of the former Commander of the Somali National Army, General Odawaa Yuusuf Raage, at a time when security and political tensions are rising in the city of Mogadishu.

A press release from the Somali Rescue Forum stated that they are concerned about the actions the government is taking, especially after the Banadir Regional Police Command announced a plan to collect illegal weapons in neighborhoods where fighting recently occurred.

The Forum warned against any actions that could lead to new clashes or worsen the security situation in the city, urging the government to avoid actions that could lead to further tensions.

This statement comes as government forces surrounded the house in the Abdicasis district where General Odawaa Yuusuf Raage resides last night. Reports from the area indicate that security forces have tightened movements around that house, although the purpose of this action has not yet been officially disclosed.

On the other hand, the Banadir Police Command previously stated that the weapons collection operation is aimed at ensuring security and controlling illegal weapons in neighborhoods affected by recent fighting in Mogadishu.

The tension in the Abdicasis district is still being closely monitored, with calls to de-escalate the situation and avoid any actions that could lead to new clashes.
