The Opposition Insists on the June 4th Protest and the Government Faces International Calls

Mogadishu, Somalia – Former President of Somalia, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, moved last night to a house located at Mirinaayo Junction in the Abdiaziz District, where reports indicate he will continue organizing the protest planned by the opposition to take place on June 4th.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, in a speech he delivered last night, criticized the federal government and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, stating that the planned protest will not be postponed. He called on the public to participate in the gathering, mentioning that the official venues for the event will be specifically announced by the opposition.

On the other hand, the Somali government is facing pressure and calls from international partners. Countries and international organizations, including the United States, have urged the political sides in Somalia to reach an agreement on electoral issues and the political process in the country.

The international community has warned that ongoing political disputes could lead to insecurity and political instability if a joint solution is not reached on the outstanding issues.
