Former Prime Minister of Somalia Hassan Ali Khayre stated that while they were in a meeting with the chief of the Murusade clan and traditional elders, they were attacked at the location where they were gathered. He accused the administration led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of being behind the attack.

Khayre prayed to God to grant His mercy to those who lost their lives in the incident, while he wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured, noting that the attack occurred while they were preparing for a peaceful demonstration scheduled to take place the following day.

He also emphasized that any losses resulting from this incident are the responsibility of the federal government, describing the president as a “president whose time has expired,” a statement reflecting the level of political conflict between the opposition and the government.

“While we were in a meeting with the chief of the Murusade clan and the traditional elders, we were attacked by the administration led by the president whose time has expired. I pray to God to have mercy on those who died and to heal those who were injured. Any losses resulting from this act are the responsibility of the president whose time has expired who attacked us while we were preparing for the peaceful demonstration scheduled for tomorrow,” Khayre said.
