The new EU ambassador visits the training center for the Somali army

The new European Union ambassador to Somalia visited the European Union Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM Somalia) headquarters, where he met with the mission's officials and leaders.

The visit focused on strengthening cooperation in security matters and the support the European Union is providing to Somalia, particularly in the development and enhancement of the country's security institutions.

The ambassador confirmed that the European Union will continue to strengthen its close cooperation with Somalia , noting that the EU's support is part of efforts to assist the Somali government's security priorities.

EUTM Somalia has been involved in training and enhancing the Somali forces for several years, with the support of the European Union being part of efforts to build Somali forces capable of independently fulfilling their security obligations.

The new ambassador's visit comes at a time when Somalia is focusing on strengthening the capacity of its security institutions and transferring security responsibilities to the Somali forces.

The European Union supports Somalia in areas including security, military training, institutional development, and strengthening government capacity , with both sides having a long-standing partnership covering various aspects.
