Somalia Chairs the 29th Meeting of the Horn of Africa Cooperation Platform

Nairobi, Kenya – The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Biixi Imaan Cige, today chaired the 29th meeting of the Horn of Africa Countries Cooperation Platform.

The meeting was attended by some of the ministers from the member countries of the platform, representatives from donor governments and international organizations, including the World Bank, African Development Bank, IGAD, and the European Union. The one-day meeting focused on enhancing regional integration, strengthening cooperation, and prioritizing economic investment in the Horn of Africa countries.

Particular emphasis was placed on developing infrastructure, especially electricity, water, and roads connecting the member countries of the platform. During the meeting, the Horn of Africa business development action plan, which was previously prepared by the trade ministers of the member countries of the Horn of Africa Initiative, was also approved.

This plan emerged from the meeting of the trade ministers of the platform, which was held in August 2026 in the city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Minister of Finance of the FGS, Biixi Imaan Cige, expressed gratitude to the countries united in the Horn of Africa Initiative and international partners for their continued support for this initiative, particularly their role in development, cooperation, and funding important projects for the Horn of Africa countries.
