Former President of South West, Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden, has expressed strong concern about the leadership election of South West, as the Federal Government plans to implement the election of the President of that Administration.

Sharif Sheikh Hassan, speaking to the media, called on the people of the South West Administration, the Somali people, and the international community to closely monitor the smooth conduct of the election.

“I urge the people of South West and the international community to closely follow the election of the leader of South West, which is surrounded by increasing concerns about transparency and fairness. There seems to be an effort to suppress the freedom of voting and to replace the secret voting system with a process based on intimidation, pressure, and surveillance,” said Sharif Hassan.

The Independent National Election and Boundary Commission (GMDQS) announced today the list of three candidates competing for the position of President of the South West State.
