How did the opposition respond to the re-election of Cali Guudlaawe?

Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – Some members of the opposition politicians have welcomed the election that took place today in the capital city of Jowhar, where President Cali Guudlaawe was re-elected and Cabdifitaax Xasan Afrax was elected as the new vice president of the HirShabelle regional administration.

Politician Cabdulqaadir Cosoble, who is part of the opposition's Samatabixinta platform, congratulated President Cali Guudlaawe and his deputy, wishing him that God makes it easy for him to handle the heavy responsibility assigned to him.

“I would like to congratulate the new President of the Hirshabelle Regional Government, Mr. Cali Cabdullaahi Xuseen (Guudlaawe). I wish that God makes it easy for you in this heavy position, and grants you the ability to fulfill that great responsibility. May God assist you in carrying out your duties, and make you one who works for the development, peace, reconciliation, and unity of the Hirshabelle community,” said Cabdulqaadir Cosoble.

Additionally, the former Minister of Internal Security, Maxamed Abuukar Islow Ducaale, who is part of the Haybad Qaran Alliance, congratulated the newly elected leadership of HirShabelle, urging them to work towards the unity of the communities in both regions.

“I would like to congratulate my brother and once my friend, the newly elected President of the Hirshabelle Regional Government, Mr. Cali Cabdullaahi Xuseen Guudlaawe. I pray to God to make it easy for him in the responsibility and heavy task that has been entrusted to him for the next 5 years,” said Islow.

He also added, “I urge the new leadership to work in unity and strive to establish genuine reconciliation among the people of Hirshabelle, especially those who have grievances.”

For his part, the former Prime Minister of Somalia, Ali Mohamed Gedi, said, “I congratulate Mr. Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Ali Guudlaawe) who was elected today as the Leader of the Hirshabelle Regional Government for the next five years. Guudlaawe is an experienced and tested individual who is expected to bring peace, stability, and sustainable development to the administration and the people of Hirshabelle.”

He also congratulated the Vice President, saying, “I also send my congratulations and commendations to his Deputy, Mr. Abdifataax Xasan Afrax, who was also elected today. I wish both of them success and ease in the responsibilities and duties assigned to them.”

The conclusion of the election for the HirShabelle Regional Government comes after last week's election in Galmudug, where President Liibaan Axmed Xasan from the Justice and Reconciliation Party (JSP) was also elected.
