Somalia Gains Senior Membership in the Global Health Care Quality Organization

Somalia has achieved an important victory at the global health care quality conference, after a Somali official was elected as a full member of the High Council of Advisers of the International Society for Quality in Health Care, ISQua.

The Director of the Somali National Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Abdirisaq Yusuf Ahmed Jalaludin, participated in the 42nd Session of the ISQua Global Health Care Quality Conference, which was held in Dublin, Ireland.

During the conference, Dr. Jalaludin presented two scientific papers focused on the quality of health service delivery, while also participating in discussions and analyses held by international health experts.

The discussions at the conference emphasized important issues for the development of health systems, particularly the quality of health care, patient safety, and the leadership role in advancing health services.

The greatest success for Somalia at the conference came after Dr. Abdirisaq Yusuf Ahmed Jalaludin was elected as a full member of the High Council of Advisers of ISQua.

Dr. Jalaludin will represent the Middle East and Africa on this council for a period of five years, which gives Somalia the opportunity to directly participate in discussions, recommendations, and global plans related to the quality and safety of health care.

This election also creates an opportunity for Somalia to showcase its experiences, the challenges within the health system, and ongoing efforts to improve health services and community health insurance.

Participation in the ISQua conference and the election of Dr. Jalaaludiin will therefore be an important step for Somalia to strengthen its representation in international health forums, while also enhancing the country's role in discussions about the quality of healthcare services and patient safety.
