The Ministry of Internal Affairs Calls for Immediate Cessation of Fighting in Jalalaqsi

Mogadishu – The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Federalism, and Reconciliation of Somalia has expressed strong concern and sorrow over the fighting and targeted actions that have occurred over the past two days between rival clans in the Jalalaqsi district of Hiiraan region, which have resulted in significant loss of life and property.

In a press release, the ministry stated that these conflicts have led to deaths, injuries, destruction of property, looting, and widespread displacement affecting the local population, condemning these actions as contrary to Islamic law and the good traditions of the Somali people.

The ministry called on the warring parties to immediately cease hostilities unconditionally, to prevent further loss and worsening of the humanitarian situation in the area.

Additionally, the ministry warned against the spread of inflammatory content being disseminated on social media, stating that legal action would be taken against those involved in spreading messages that incite violence and division within the community.

It also urged traditional elders, scholars, women, youth, local leaders, and the Hirshabelle administration to take a visible role in stopping the fighting, strengthening peace, and working towards a lasting solution to the existing conflicts.

Finally, the Ministry of Internal Affairs prayed to Allah for mercy on those who lost their lives in these conflicts, to grant the injured swift recovery, and to alleviate the difficult conditions faced by the affected population.
