The Ministry of Family and Human Rights Condemns Act Against a Somali Girl

MOGADISHU – The Ministry of Family and Human Rights of the Federal Government of Somalia has strongly condemned an act described as inhumane that violated the honor and dignity of a Somali girl, which has been widely circulated on social media.

A statement released by the Ministry indicated that this act clearly contradicts Islamic teachings, the good culture of Somalia, and the fundamental rights of citizens.

The Minister of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights, Mrs. Khadiija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, stated that it is the duty of the Somali community to unite against such acts.

“This barbaric act clearly contradicts our Islamic religion, the good culture of Somalia, the freedom, honor, and dignity of the citizen. It is our collective duty to oppose such acts and to remove from our community anyone who commits these violations,” said the Minister.

The Ministry called on security agencies to swiftly apprehend those suspected of committing this act, so that they can be brought before the justice system and face legal action in accordance with the country's laws.

Additionally, the Ministry urged parents, relatives, and all Somali citizens to cooperate with security agencies and participate in the apprehension of those accused of this act.

“Anyone who recognizes or has information about those involved in this act is urged to share it with security agencies, to ensure that the perpetrators do not find refuge or a way to escape justice,” the statement said.

Finally, the Ministry of Family and Human Rights reiterated that the protection of the dignity, honor, and safety of Somali women is a shared responsibility of the government and the Somali community.
