Hassan Receives Delegation from the Pakistan Air Force + Photos

Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, received a high-level delegation from the Pakistan Air Force at the presidential palace this afternoon, led by the Air Defense Chief and Deputy Chief of the Pakistan Air Force, Air Marshal Muhammad Sarfraz.

The meeting, which was sensitive, also included the Minister of Defense, Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, the Chief of the Somali National Army, Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, and the Chief of the Somali Air Force, Major General Abdirisaq Mohamed Haji.

During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing and accelerating the development of the Somali Air Force, with particular emphasis on efforts to strengthen the capabilities of the air force, improve the quality and training of the forces, and enhance defense cooperation between Somalia and Pakistan.

These efforts are part of plans to develop and build the Somali Air Force, to accelerate the operations of the General Command of the armed forces, and to strengthen the country's air defense capabilities.

This meeting also highlights the importance the Somali government places on the development and enhancement of the air force, especially at a time when efforts are underway to build a Somali military with high capabilities and training, contributing to the security and defense of Somalia's airspace.

However, today's meeting follows a recent defense cooperation agreement signed by both governments, which was signed by the Somali Minister of Defense Mr. Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, who previously made an official visit to Islamabad, while Pakistan was represented by the Minister of Defense, Mr. Khawaja Muhammad Asif. This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in defense and security, while also enhancing the capabilities of the forces.

This agreement also stipulates that both sides cooperate in the fight against terrorism, military training, exchange of experiences, military knowledge, enhancing defense capabilities, and strengthening security cooperation.

The signing of this agreement also demonstrates how committed Somalia and Pakistan are to strengthening their strategic relationship and expanding cooperation between the two countries in defense and security, serving as a basis for effective collaboration that serves the interests of both sides.
