Supporters of the former President of the South West State, Abdikadir Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, launched an attack last night on a base where government forces are stationed on the outskirts of Baydhabo city, the capital of the Bay region.

The site of the attack has seen hours of fighting between the two sides, with the attacking forces capturing soldiers from the government side, according to officials from the Lafta-gareen loyalist forces.

This attack comes at a time when Laftagareen loyalist forces have previously carried out attacks around Baydhabo, entering some neighborhoods of Baydhabo city.

On the other hand, the Minister of Security during Lafta-gareen's rule, Hassan Abdulqadir, stated in a post on Facebook that the public is urged to avoid areas where the forces are located to prevent harm from the ongoing battles.

“Our honorable citizens should avoid areas where the forces are stationed to prevent any harm from coming to you,” said Minister Hassan Abdulqadir.
