Fighting in the city of Baydhabo

Forces loyal to Laftagareen launched an attack on the city of Baydhabo tonight, currently engaged in fighting inside the city.

Heavy gunfire can be heard in the center of Baydhabo, between the forces loyal to Abdicasiis Laftagareen and police forces stationed in the city.

The casualties caused by this ongoing battle, which has lasted nearly an hour, remain unknown, and it comes at a time when most people are asleep.

Reports indicate that officials from the South West administration who were at the presidential palace and other locations have been evacuated to the Baydhabo airport, which is under the control of Ethiopian forces.

This is not the first time that forces loyal to Laftagareen have attacked the city of Baydhabo; they launched a similar attack three weeks ago.

The fighting tonight in Baydhabo comes at a time when the new president of South West, Aadan Madoobe, is on a trip to the city of Mogadishu.
