Dhuusamareeb, June 23, 2026 – The President of the Galmudug Government, Mr. Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoor Qoor), and the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Major General Mahad Mohamed Salad, have reached a preliminary agreement following several days of discussions aimed at resolving the conflict regarding the Galmudug elections, with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre expected to arrive in Dhuusamareeb tomorrow to finalize the agreement.

These discussions have come at a time of political tension regarding the manner and timing of the Galmudug elections, as the federal government and the regional administration have been at odds over various issues. Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is expected to arrive in Dhuusamareeb tomorrow to join the discussions and finalize the points agreed upon by the parties. Officials from the government have stated that the expected agreement is one that resolves the conflict and is key to a peaceful election in Galmudug.
