The Dream of Marriage Turned into Death – The Painful Story of Maryan

Mogadishu (Caasimada Online) – May Allah have mercy on her, today in the city of Mogadishu, the late Maryan Mohamed Abdi passed away, who was a young girl with great hopes for life, and was in the final preparations for her wedding.

Maryan, who was a girl heavily relied upon by her parents, peacefully rested at her home last night, but in the middle of the night, death came to her, as her relatives reported.

The deceased was to be busy with her wedding in the coming days, with only a few days left until the day she hoped would mark the beginning of her new life, however, the wedding plans unexpectedly turned into the final farewell of her life.

Juure Sheikh Hussein, the young man whom the late Maryan was planning to marry, shared this painful story, stating that both parents agreed to the marriage, and everything was going as planned. However, it was Allah's destiny that the awaited joy turned into sorrow and mourning, as death came before their wedding day.

Maryam Mohamed Abdi, first I pray to Allah to have mercy on her, grant her Jannatul Firdowsa, and make her grave spacious and illuminated.

This week we were scheduled to have our engagement. Her mother and father, who she was solely dependent on, knew that we loved each other and were planning to marry. I loved Maryam very much, and it seemed to me that she was a dream of marriage and a bright future that we would share.

Maryam was a religious person. She always used to tell me that we should memorize the Quran together if we got married, and she would always advise me to fear Allah and be modest.

Yesterday afternoon, as I was leaving work, she sent me a message that will forever remain in my heart:

“My love, I don’t know the words to express what my heart feels for you, because the love I have for you cannot be described in words. You have become someone I see in my heart even when my eyes cannot…”

She told me she wanted to be the one standing by my side when I am happy and when life becomes difficult for me.

Last night, while she was healthy, she told me she was tired and wanted to pray. She said to me:

“We will talk tomorrow.”

I also said goodbye, never knowing that this would be the last farewell we exchanged.

Early this morning, I received the most shocking message I have ever heard in my life. Her aunt, who knew about our situation, wrote to me:

“Hello dear, I am very sorry to tell you this heartbreaking news. Maryan has passed away. Last night at 8 o'clock, she took her last breath, and when she was taken to the hospital, they said her soul had departed. May Allah have mercy on her. If there is anything you regret, brother, please forgive.”

Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we shall return.

What pains me the most is not only losing the one I loved and wanted to be my wife. What pains me the most is seeing her parents, who she was solely dependent on, facing an indescribable sorrow today. May Allah comfort their hearts, grant them patience and faith.

The dream of marriage turned into a journey of death that cannot be reversed.

I pray to Allah to make Jannatul Firdowsa your home, and to make your grave spacious and illuminated. I also pray to Allah that He reunites us in His paradise.

The love I had for you will not end with your death.
