The Soldier Who Killed Citizen Yusuf Ahmed Abdi

Saturday, 25 Sep 2026 {HMC} Soldier Abdi Aadan Ibrahim, known as “Soddon,” has been accused of the murder of the late Yusuf Ahmed Abdi, a citizen working in the construction of houses in Faryaamo, who was riding a motorcycle he had rented at the time of his killing, in order to reach his home, as it was in the afternoon after he had finished his work.

The accused Soddon, standing on the road in the Iga-daba-geey neighborhood of Garsabaaleey, stopped the motorcycle that the deceased was riding, in a manner resembling an assertion of power, and spoke to him to continue, but he was told they could not take him, as they were not going in the same direction. The response from the accused was to stop the motorcycle, then threaten that he was suspicious and that it should be checked.

After a dispute, he fired two shots, one hitting the ground and the other hitting the deceased in the stomach, who was the renter of the motorcycle, and he died at that same location. This incident occurred on the 26th of July in the year 2026.

The accused, attempting to escape, hid in a tree known as Cali garoobka, located not far from the scene of the incident, but civilians pointed out to the security forces where he was, and thus he was captured.

After a lengthy investigation, the Office of the Military Prosecutor requested the case to be taken up, and it was approved on the 16th of this September.

The military court, having given sufficient time to the parties in the case, ultimately sentenced former soldier Abdi Aadan Ibrahim “Soddon” to death by shooting, which is the retribution for the late Yusuf Ahmed Abdi.
