; The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has congratulated the new leader of the South West State of Somalia, Mr. Sheikh Aadan Mohamed Nur, who today won the election held in the city of Baydhabo.

The President praised the maturity shown by the Members of Parliament, the leadership, and the presidential candidates who competed in the elections held in the South West State, and prayed to God to facilitate the elected leadership in fulfilling their work obligations.

“I congratulate the new leader of the South West State, Mr. Sheikh Aadan Mohamed Nur, who won the elections held in the region, wishing him to focus on uniting the community of South West, and to work for peace, development, and governance.”

President Hassan Sheikh pointed out that the coordinated elections in which the people of South West directly participated opened a new chapter in the democratic history of the country, and demonstrated political maturity, public awareness, and the commitment of the Somali people to implement a democratic system based on free and fair elections.

The President of the Republic praised the hundreds of thousands of citizens who participated in the elections for their resilience, patience, and the civilized manner in which they engaged in the electoral process, noting that the broad participation of the public is a testament to their confidence in governance, peace, and the democratic future of the country.
