The Ministry of Family and the Electoral Commission Discuss Women's Participation

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, Amb. Khadiija Maxamed Al-Makhzoumi, and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mr. Cabdikariin Axmed, discussed strengthening cooperation between the two sides and how to ensure inclusive participation of women and persons with disabilities in the elections.

The meeting, which was attended by the Minister along with the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Maxamed Bashiir Cumar, advisors, and some of the directors of the Ministry's departments, specifically addressed the implementation of the 30% quota for women and the quota for persons with disabilities.

The officials also examined the importance of both sides working together to protect and implement the participation of women and persons with disabilities in the electoral process of the country.

The Minister of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, Amb. Khadiija Maxamed Al-Makhzoumi, emphasized the importance of women and persons with disabilities fully participating in the political process and elections of the country.

She stated that the Ministry is ready to work with the Commission to ensure that their quotas and rights to participate in the elections are genuinely respected.

Finally, the Minister thanked the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Secretary, and all members of the Commission for their warm welcome and their commitment to cooperation in ensuring the participation of women and persons with disabilities.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of government institutions working together to ensure inclusive elections, where all segments of society participate equally.
