Hassan sends a message to Ali Guudlaawe and Afrax after the HirShabelle election

Jowhar (Caasimada Online) – The President of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who issued a press release, spoke about the election that took place today in the city of Jowhar, where President Ali Guudlaawe was re-elected, and his new deputy, Abdifitah Hassan Afrax, who hails from the Hiiraan region, was elected.

Hassan Sheikh congratulated the re-elected leader of the HirShabelle Regional Government, Mr. Ali Abdullahi Hussein, and the Deputy Leader, Mr. Abdifitah Hassan Afrax, who will lead the administration for the next 5 years.

He also wished them success and that they excel in the responsibilities assigned to them, emphasizing the importance of accelerating efforts to achieve peace, reconciliation, state-building, and the development of social services in the Hirshabelle regions.

He also praised the electoral process that led to the election of the new leadership, stressing the importance of strengthening democracy, building state institutions, and public participation in the political process of the country.

The President also highlighted that public participation shows the role citizens play in the democratization process and state-building.

The election of the HirShabelle Regional Administration comes after last week's election in Galmudug, where President Liban Ahmed Hassan, a member of the Justice and Reconciliation Party (JSP), was also elected.

However, Somalia is currently in a difficult phase resulting from a serious crisis regarding how Villa Somalia is approaching the federal and state-level elections, which some opposition groups, Jubbaland and Puntland, oppose.
